CoreWeave stock CRWV extended its recovery for a third consecutive session on Wednesday as investors reassessed concerns about the artificial intelligence infrastructure provider’s debt and expansion plans.
The shares gained 1.49% in trading to $60.46, following a 7.9% increase in the previous session. Despite the rebound, CoreWeave remained down more than 30% over the past month.
Other neocloud companies, including Nebius Group and IREN, also recorded gains on Tuesday.
The recovery comes as investors weigh the growth opportunities created by rising AI demand against the substantial borrowing and capital expenditure required to expand data-centre capacity.
Analyst sees potential to repay debt if expansion pauses
Oppenheimer analyst Param Singh argued that CoreWeave could generate approximately $9 billion in annual free cash flow to the firm if it halted its expansion plans and capital expenditure.
Such cash generation could provide the company with sufficient funds to meet its debt obligations, according to Singh.
He also identified opportunities to increase revenue per megawatt by renewing older contracts at higher rates and adding software capabilities.
Although CoreWeave’s business model relies on continued borrowing, investment in infrastructure, and sales growth, the analyst’s assessment suggests that the company could have options if market conditions deteriorate.
Singh also considered a scenario in which CoreWeave loses its customer contracts.
He estimated that the company could still meet its debt obligations and said unsecured debt holders could recover their investments in a worst-case liquidation scenario.
Singh wrote that longer server utilisation could mean the company’s assets are understated on its balance sheet, supporting his assessment of potential recovery for unsecured creditors.
CoreWeave has previously said its revenue backlog should be sufficient to cover all its debt obligations, even without contract renewals or new tenants for its facilities.
The company’s ability to generate cash and service its debt remains a key consideration for investors as it continues to expand its AI infrastructure business.
Anthropic IPO and chipmaker results support neocloud shares
The recent recovery in neocloud stocks follows renewed interest in the broader AI sector after Anthropic filed for an initial public offering.
Anthropic’s adjusted profitability highlighted the potential for AI businesses to generate earnings, although its business model differs from CoreWeave’s infrastructure-focused operations.
CoreWeave provides computing capacity for AI workloads, making its financial outlook closely tied to infrastructure investment, customer demand, and financing costs.
Singh has a price target of $150 on CoreWeave, based on expectations of 160% revenue growth in the current year and further upside in 2027.
FactSet data cited in the report put the average analyst price target at $132.49.
Neocloud stocks also rose after South Korean memory-chip maker SK Hynix reported strong third-quarter results, adding to positive sentiment around AI-related businesses.
However, the recent gains have not eliminated concerns about the sector’s financial risks.
Cramer warns investors against declaring an all-clear
CNBC’s Jim Cramer urged investors to remain cautious about the AI rally, arguing that the latest gains do not mean the data-centre trade has overcome its challenges.
He pointed to neocloud companies’ heavy debt burdens, rising borrowing costs, questions surrounding Anthropic’s financing deal and the possibility of renewed volatility in bond markets.
Cramer said the return of money to technology stocks was encouraging but did not justify assuming that the sector was free of risk.
He also suggested investors consider opportunities in other parts of the economy.
